Great still photography compiled to make a video (stop motion, i guess) of a boats journey through the Houston waterways. (PART 1 of 2)

The two halves were assembled in Quicktime from 2000 still images taken by using a Nikon D700 in the "interval timer" mode. The camera was fastened to an outside rail and set to take a photo every six seconds. Quicktime then assembled the photos into a .mov file that plays back at 12 frames per second. So, one minute of movie time represents 72 minutes of trip time on the channel.

I'm working on a big 9-minute follow-up to "Learning to Fly", but it won't be ready till next summer. Meantime, here are some shots from my trip in August to California's White Mountains and Yosemite, all shot on the Canon 5D2. These are sequences from my first film - "Southwest Light" - currently in production. So I saw all of these mediocre pictures of that volcano in Iceland nobody can pronounce the name of, so I figured I should go and do better. But the flights to get over took forever as expected (somewhat). 4 days after leaving I finally made it, but the weather was terrible for another 4. Just before leaving it got pretty good for about a day and a half and this is what I managed to get. Wish I had more time. I missed all the cool Lightning and the Lava of the first eruption. But I figure this will just be a trial run for another day.
